Liberty of Self-Actualization in Terms of Emo Boys' Clothing

These days psychologists and social workers of an amount of lands are utterly anxious about the psyche of future generation. Medical surveys show that every day more young people get into depression and are disposed to take their own lives. The reasons for this may be several but the meaningful one is the sense of loneliness and incomprehension. There are, however, various subcultures like emo, punk and goth that find adherents all over the world.

Social workers and parents frequently complain about the pernicious impact of these youth formations on the mind of teenagers. Quite the opposite is the statement of psychologists who affirm that these subcultures help young people to outlive life extremities and hardships of adolescent period. Let's take emo subculture as a sample. Notwithstanding the living social belief that emo teenagers are hostile, these boys and girls display as much deference to everyone irrespective of their ethnic belonging or religion. The most important thing is that emo young people are able to throw down the gauntlet to the standards of society by means of emo clothes and outward appearance. The style in which emo boys and girls dress up may raise debatable opinions of typical people: there's no distinction whether it's a girl or a boy, both dress up tight-fitting black pants and T-shirts with colorful badges and thongs, sportive footwear and bags in the back. It's not the desire to vary from other people or to affirm something but just the method of self-actualization. The anger of some people might as well be aroused by the appearance of emo people. Both emo guys and emo girls pierce their noses, tongues and some other parts; both have a short haircut and color it dark leaving a long lock that covers half of the face and is painted pink; both make loud make up. Emo young people think that eyes are the mirror of the heart and emotions that is why they emphasize their eyes with dark pencils and eye shadows. Psychologists affirm that such an unusual way of looking and dressing up help young people express themselves unreservedly.

To say more, it's not only clothes and appearance that discern emo boys and girls from the other people but especially their state of mind. Susceptibility and shyness distinguish emo girls from their peers. Those girls are also genuine and rather emotional. The same thing may be said about emo boys who are able to have intense feelings of sensitivity to the rest of people and themselves. These feelings, thought, are very dissimilar items from what typical people feel. Their feelings are quite acute, for instance, they may get dejected if they do not find reciprocal feeling or approbation of people around them. In conditions of incomprehension or neglect, psychologists mention, average teenagers as usual get into their shells that sometimes leads to committing suicides. Emo girls and boys don't conceal their emotions deep inside; they associate and share their opinions with one another. Well, is it terrible if a teen found like-minded peers with whom he may spend his leisure time and share his emotions? As the final item it is needful to say that adults and educationalists shouldn't prohibit their offspring to be apart of some subculture or youth formation and allow them express their thought freely.
